FROM THE PASTOR:
Earlier this week Governor Baker has issued guidelines and protocols for opening churches as the first phase of reopening our state. This being said the pandemic virus is still with us which means we must meet strict protocols to open and stay open as set by the state and the Archdiocese. The emphasize is on keeping everybody safe. We cannot open until all of these protocols are in place and we have received permission to re-open. Given this we are planning to work toward an opening on the weekend of May 31. We will be continuing to live stream Mass for the near future. We will be doing a slow roll out of Sunday Mass which will be phased in over many weeks. There is a requirement of six feet between people in the pews and when receiving communion. There will be no more than 40% of the church filled and once that is reached, no one else can come into the Church. There will be specific places marked off where people can sit. The ushers will assist people to seats. Please follow the directions of the ushers. People will be expected to wear face masks throughout Mass. There will be no choirs and no congregational singing, and no sign of peace. There can be no trips to the sacristy after Mass and people will be asked to leave immediately after Mass. The Church will need to be cleaned following each Mass. This will be an adjustment for all of us and we need your help and prayers.
Cardinal O’Malley continues to extend a dispensation from attending Sunday Mass. People with underlying health issues are encouraged to stay safe and at home until the effects of this virus have lessened.
We are now addressing the needs and protocols for the celebration of the Mass. With the permission of the Archdiocese we are hoping to open on the weekend of May 31st with a 4 P.M. Mass at both St. Bernadette and St. Mary and a 9am Mass in Vietnamese at St. Bernadette and a 10am Mass at St. Mary.
In the meantime, please stay safe and thank you to all who help to keep us safe and all who are helping us to re-open. Jesus walks with us and we have hope.
