Our classes and workshops are
held at our Religious Education Center, located at 30 Seton Way, Randolph.
The Center contains our office, classroom space, an auditorium, meeting
rooms and a prayer room. The office is open Tuesday through Friday
during regular office hours, and on Tuesday and Wednesday evening until
9 pm. Well-trained catechists are in place for each grade, with additional
office help always available. In addition, we are completely committed
to the on-going prevention of sexual abuse, and have totally implemented
the curriculum for Keeping Children and Youth Safe. Below
please find a description of our faith formation program. Please
contact us if you have questions or require any additional information.
Grades K - 6:
Our Elementary classes - K through 6th
grade - are offered on Tuesday or Thursday afternoon, from September
through
May. Classes are 75 minutes long, and include time for
relational ministry, catechesis and prayer. Various grades are invited
to participate
in workshops offered during the year on such topics as sacraments
and about being Christ-like.
The sacraments of Penance and Eucharist
are typically celebrated in grade two, after a two year period of
preparation. A class is also
available
for young elementary students who have had no prior formation.
In addition, sacrament preparation is available to any person of any
age.
Grades 7 and 8:
Our junior high students attend class
on Wednesday evening, with our high school students in attendance
on Tuesday evening.
Our
Peer Leaders
are instrumental in hosting several large group topics using
video clips, witness, discussion and story telling to enhance catechetical
themes with scripture woven into each session. Classes are
75 minutes
long, and include time for relational ministry, catechesis
and prayer.
Confirmation:
Our Confirmation program is a two-year
commitment built on the Archdiocesan guidelines of community, message,
worship
and service.
Classes are
held on Tuesday evenings and culminate in the celebration of
Confirmation in late fall of grade 11. Not only are we interested
in our young
people developing a sense of belonging in the Catholic Church,
but we as a
parish are called to express our interest in our youth. This
is evident in the adults who step forward to teach and in our
intergenerational
team, who handle our Confirmation retreat. Our young people
commit themselves to service in providing aid to a food pantry and
building
Easter baskets
for a homeless shelter.
Family Mass:
Family Mass is scheduled throughout
the school year, with our students and families volunteering for
a host of ministries.
After Mass,
we gather socially with coffee, juice and doughnuts in our
church hall.
Adult Education:
Adult Education is offered during
the school year on a variety of topics. One favorite adult group is
our book club which
focuses on
a new book
each semester, culminating in some lively discussions!
The
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is
the process through which interested adults are
gradually introduced
to the Roman Catholic Faith and way of life. This process
also includes adults who may have been Baptized but not
catechized. Classes begin
in October and take place weekly until the Easter Vigil.
This
same process in offered for children over the age of seven.
